“Damon’s gone,” Stefan tells her. “You need to say goodbye, too.” But judging by the fact that Elena is still smelling Damon’s clothes and nomming on innocents, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon. (And is that Luke that Elena is thrusting up against a wall?)
The teaser ends with (a ghostly) Damon and Elena, back at the scene of the Season 5 finale, as he echoes his brother’s sentiments: “Move on.”

Will Season 7 Be the Last For The Vampire Diaries?

Could The Vampire Diaries go on without Ian SomerhalderNina Dobrev, and Paul WesleyE! News reports that one of these three major players is holding out on renewing their contract pastSeason 6 of the hit CW series, so we might just have to cross our fingers and hope that the show could maintain itself without the star power it has now. Does the show have just one more season up its sleeves?

Season 6 is a definite go — it premieres on October 2 this fall — but will the show run out of steam after this go-round? Executive producer Julie Plec opened up to E! News at Comic-Con this year about the future of the show, saying she thinks the show “will go as long as the actors want the show to go.”
“You know, look, everybody’s under contract,” she continued. “I know that we’ve got plans for Season 6, we’ve got plans for Season 7.” With Julie revealing that the creative minds behind the show are already plotting for Season 7, it seems as though that’s almost a done deal. Hopefully — even if one of the main three doesn’t renew — the network wouldn’t force Julie to wrap things up this year, that’d be unfair to everyone.
“I know that our bosses have plans for Seasons 8, 9, and 10,” Julie continues. “I said I want to be a part of it as long as I know I could keep telling good stories and as long as the ensemble of people that I work with want to be there and are committed and dedicated. So, so far, so good, you know. We’ll see how long we can stay, doing it well. We’ll make sure that we don’t start sucking.”
Since the show still averages about 2 million viewers per episode, we’d say a level of “sucking” hasn’t been reached yet. Sure, they aren’t the ratings the show once had, but there’s still some untapped potential there — with or without the love triangle that made the show famous.
E! News goes on to say that while Ian, Nina, and Paul all signing back on would definitely help chances for a Season 7 pickup, the network might be willing to consider a show without the trifecta and focus more on fan-favorite characters.
Given all this info, it sounds like there’s definite potential for the show to go on after Season 7. There are a lot of moving pieces, but The Vampire Diaries is still one of the biggest hits — if not the biggest — that The CW has ever had.

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Spoilers: No Damon Elena Romance and a Big Bad Villain in Mystic Falls?

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 has kept Dalena fans clueless after rumours of Damon and Bonnie's possible romance on the Other Side.
However, during the San Diego Comic Con, TVD director Julie Plec made it clear that Damon won't return from the dead to be with Elena.
The toxic romance of Damon and Elena ended in Season 5 when the elder Salvadore brother was trapped on the Other Side with Bonnie.
Dalena fans were hoping to see the crackling chemistry between the two yet again in the next season which appears to be a remote possibility.
However, there are rumours that Elena will take time to recover from the death of Damon but eventually she will move on in life and possibly get close to Alaric.
Elena will join the Whitmore Medical Center as an intern and work under Dr Jo Robles (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), Spoiler TV reported.
In a recent interview with E Online, the show director revealed the biggest spoiler from Season 6.
Plec hinted that CW's vampire series will explore the mythology of the entire season which will 'impact' each character of the popular series.
She also teased of a 'big bad' villain in the upcoming season.
"There is a big bad. it's a long, slow-burn mythology that will unfold over the course of the entire season and will really impact each of our character in deep ways and it's smart and it's interesting and it's small, which I like," Plec told the website.
"Instead of trying to top ourselves year to year, we try to scale back and see if we can keep it really personal and rooted in character."
Does this mean fans can witness the history of Damon, Elena andStefan and how they turned into vampires from humans?

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Burning Question: Is Delena Doomed?

We like to keep an optimistic attitude when indulging in TV shipping, but it’s important to remember that things don’t always work out for even the most epic of television couples. Things aren’t looking so good right now for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) on The Vampire Diaries. Elena thinks Damon is dead and gone, while Damon is trapped on some kind of other-plane. Is Delena doomed?

Yes, this has always been a tragedy. Some of the best love stories are tragedies: Romeo and JulietTristan and IsoldeTitanic. Will Delena join their number? In some ways, this would be an understandable ending to the TVD story. After all, this has never been a story of happy endings. It’s the story of Elena’s life becoming increasingly more wrought with death. Almost everyone she loves, including herself, has died at least once. For a show that started as a tale of a teenaged protagonist struggling to deal with the death of her parents, that’s par for the course.

If Elena ends up living happily ever after with Damon, we’re not sure we’d be satisfied because, though it would be sweet, would it feel a fitting end for the series? The best series endings match the themes and promises of the episodes and arcs that came before. For Elena, the true success would be learning to move on, learning to move past Mystic Falls, a place that has become synonymous with death. And part of that could be breaking completely free of the love triangle that has kept her there for so long, and claimed the lives of so many.

No, love is the central theme. On the other hand, while TVD has been about love as much as it has been about death. Will the former theme will out? There’s a strong possibility, otherwise what has all of this death been for? What’s the point of watching these two characters fight their way back to one another if they’re just going to fall short in the end? Yes, that story may be just as likely in real life, but this is fiction. This is genre fiction. On The CW. That comes with it a certain level of expectation. TVD is not in the habit of catering to its fans. The writing staff does what is necessary for the story, but that doesn’t mean they’re not just as invested in Elena’s love life as the internet is.
If good series endings fulfill an unspoken promise a TV show has made in every scene, line of dialogue, and tonal choice, then TVD may need this love story to have a definitive, happy ending because though this show has been filled with heartbreak, there has always been an underlying sentiment that friendship and love are worth fighting for. That, in the end, these characters will find peace.
Do you think Delena is doomed? Do you think TVD is a love story, tragedy, or something in-between? Sound off in the comments below!

Vampire Diaries Season 6 Spoilers: Are Caroline and Enzo on a Date?

We have a feeling The Vampire Diaries is going to be a whole new show when it returns in Season 6after a several-months time jump. This includes new character dynamics, relationships that have developed and grown since we last check in with our favorite fang gang members. This presumably includes the relationship between Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey). Check out this photo of the two characters hanging in a diner together!

Vampire Diaries Season 6: Get Ready for a Dark New Stefan!

A huge number of Vampire Diaries fans were banking on Stefan and Elena banding together to rescue Damon from whichever dimension he is stuck in, but Paul Wesley has teased that the younger Salvatore brother just isn't that into it.
The 32-year-old actor revealed that, although his character took off and left Mystic Falls behind after Bonnie and Damon's 'death', he certainly isn't rushing off to look for his lost brother and friend.
Wesley also warned TVFanataic that fans will be greeted by a darker Stefan Salvatore than they have seen before. The Vampire Diaries star explained that;
He decides that he doesn't want to have any part. He's doing his thing and he's completely disinterested, he's apathetic, he's given up
Which leads me to wonder, what exactly will Stefan be up to in season six?
Wesley has already teased that he will be totally over his ex-grilfriend Elena in the new season during an interview with MTV at SDCC. He explained that;
There's no two ways about it, nobody likes a mopey, whipped dude. Viewers appreciate a character that's strong, and decisive, and masculine. I think he's moved on, and I think that's a sexy quality
With most of Stefan's most important speculated storylines seeming more and more improbable, surely this has to be the season of 'Steroline'?
I know I'm shipping them!

'The Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 SPOILERS: Will Caroline Fall In LOVE With Stefan Or Enzo? Will Stefan LEAVE Mystic Falls?

New spoilers for "The Vampire Diaries" upcoming sixth season hint that Stefan Salvatore will be so overcome with grief after the death of his brother Damon that he'll flee Mystic Falls, perhaps for good. Meanwhile, Caroline Forbes will be struggling to heal her friends while juggling her burgeoning romantic feelings for a certain supernatural creature.
According to the International Business Times, Paul Wesley warned fans who attended "The Vampire Diaries" panel at Comic-Con 2014 that they'll see a whole new side of Stefan Salvatore.
After his brother's death, Stefan has become so apathetic that he no longer cares about anything in Mystic Falls, and he decides to leave. He won't be pining over ex-girlfriend Elena Gilbert either, although Stelena shippers shouldn't read into it too much: Stefan is just feeling numb from his grief and is lashing out at everything that reminds him of Damon.
Meanwhile, Stefan's new BFF Caroline Forbes is left with the difficult task of trying to heal her friends, and the older Salvatore brother is certainly making her job more difficult, notes TV Guide.
Wetpaint elaborates by saying that Caroline's journey for Season Six revolves around her struggling to heal her friends, even though she often feels as if she's failing miserably.
The young blonde vampire is determined to figure out how to bring her friends back together, save Damon Salvatore and Bonnie Bennett from death, and restore magic back to Mystic Falls. However, she quickly learns that doing all of that is a lot harder than she though it would be.
Also, even as Caroline attempts to save her friends from their own grief, she's also struggling with her own romantic feelings. While it's been hinted that she's developing a crush on Stefan, Wetpaint adds that some fans have also been theorizing that Caroline will become buddies with Enzo.
Despite the fact that Enzo often straddles the line between "good" and "evil," the two had a nice sarcastic banter going on last season and that could develop into a strong friendship. It's also possible that she'll develop a romantic interest in Enzo as well.
Will Caroline be torn between her romantic feelings for Stefan and Enzo? Will Stefan ever recover from the shock of losing his brother?

'The Vampire Diaries' season 6 spoilers: Elena will be left alone without Damon

Based on the most recent spoilers, Elena will be left alone on the sixth season of "The Vampire Diaries".

A lot of juicy details about the upcoming season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" were
revealed at the recent San Diego Comic Con. One of the biggest shockers among these spoilers is that Elena will be alone next season.
This is backed up by spoilers spilled in various occasions. According to "The Vampire Diaries" writer and producer Julie Plec, Damon and Bonnie who disappeared to The Other Side will never come back, although she did not confirm whether the two were dead. With Damon not coming back, Elena will be left on her own.
It is believed that Elena will grieve the loss of her lover. The panel at the recent San Diego Comic Con, especially the executive producer, also confirmed that Elena and Stefan will not rekindle their old flame. Thus, it seems that Elena will indeed be alone for a while.
In a separate interview, Plec told TV Line: "I'll just say that I think it'd be super sad for a young woman in her vibrant, early years to take her life and die on the sword for the love of a man. As much as I am a romantic and believe in true love, I also believe in therapy and trying to pull yourself together and getting on with your life."
Meanwhile, Julie Plec said some of the Originals characters will come to Mystic Falls. She explained that the writers and execs are always "talking about different paths" that can be taken to allow crossovers. However, the show runner has not revealed additional information about the appearance of the Originals character. Also, some sources suggested that Stefan will soon realize Caroline's feelings towards him and there is a possibility of new romance in the series.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 6 will be back on air on Oct. 2 at 8/7 on The CW.

Vampire Diaries Season 6: Alaric Actor Almost Quit

Matt Davis, who plays Alaric on The Vampire Diaries, said he was considering walking away from the show after he got tired of making sporadic guest appearances.
According to Digital Spy, he said showrunner Julie Plec offered him a regular spot eventually.
“It was very uncomfortable for me to come back as a guest star,” he said”I felt very much removed and out of sync with the whole experience.
He added: “I felt awkward and I thought, ‘I don’t think I can keep saying yes to coming back in these little guest star appearances here and there, ‘cos it’s just too hard for me emotionally’.”

Davis said he was prepared to talk with Plec about leaving.
“I was prepared to have that conversation with Julie,” he added. “But before I could say anything, she was like, ‘So… we’re thinking about bringing you back – how do you feel about that?’
He added: “I was thrilled to be able to come back. I had felt very much in limbo with Alaric for the last two seasons. Now I feel like it’s even better than it was before.”
The show premieres on the CW on Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. EDT.

AP update:
‘The Vampire Diaries’ takes bite out of Comic-Con
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Season 5 of The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” ended with characters Damon and Bonnie (played by Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham) being separated from their loved ones as they enter a mysterious, purgatory-like dimension.
The cast returned to Comic-Con on Saturday where they played a video of Somerhalder and Graham wondering about their fate off-screen, now that their characters are trapped in oblivion. Are they off the show? Will they get a spin-off?
Somerhalder, Graham along with Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Matt Davis and showrunner Julie Plec attended the panel to tease the new season premiering Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. EDT.
“The Vampire Diaries” is a about vampires, werewolves, doppelgangers, witches and a few humans living in and around the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. It’s loosely based on a book-series.
A few panel spoilers:
—Season 6 picks up about four months after the events of the finale.
—Davis’ character Alaric, back from the dead and a full-time cast member again, is now a college professor.
—Plec doesn’t see Dobrev’s Elena turning to her former flame Stefan Salvatore for anything other than friendship, now that she’s separated from Damon. “Right now the love between Damon and Elena is so strong,” she said.

When it comes to a show like "The Vampire Diaries," nothing is off the table. Mixing together vampires and their many derivatives with werewolves, ghosts, witches, and more results in some seriously convoluted plot twists.
Let's make it even more complicated, shall we?
I caught up with some of the cast and creators of "The Vampire Diaries" during San Diego Comic-Con and asked them if they wanted to play a game. Sadly I didn't have the foresight to bring my Jigsaw mask, but they all agreed anyway.
With Two Lies And A Truth, I requested they lie to my face about things that will happen in the upcoming sixth season. And then to sprinkle it with truth. Can you guys figure out which of these statements are false and which will come to pass?

We sat down with the cast of The Vampire Diaries over the weekend, and here’s what they had to say about season 6!

Cures and Dopplegangers

We started off our interviews with the cast by asking Julie Plec about cures. Are we done with cures for the series? There was only ever one cure that was taken by Katherine, but with the spells that the Travelers tried performing to rid magic from Mystic Falls and eventually turning everyone back into their original state before they’d turned, we were curious.
Plec responded by saying “Well, I can’t say we’re done with it. We’re done as in with there’s one cure and it was taken, we’re done with the Other Side, so the options for how to cure a vampire are pretty limited if not non-existent.”
This lead to a discussion of dopplegangers as well. If you were worried about an over-abundance of dopplegangers on season 6, fear not. “For now the dopplegangers are put to bed, if nothing else to give our team a little break so they only have to play one person at once.”

New season, new mysteries.

Plec was also asked how different next season is going to be, and how they’re going to handle all the changes. “Interestingly enough we’re not making big changes so much as we’re consolidating the tone of the show back to what we loved so much with the first two seasons, which is mystery and suspense and character drama,” she explains.
“There’s a great mystery at the center of the year which we’re excited about. And we’re really going to get to explore characters individually and relationships individually without having to top ourselves with mythology that we left off with.”
So what about the new characters? Plec teased us about the return of Alaric and the various new characters cast over the past month, but we were particularly curious about Luke: Will he and his sister stick around? Without Luke there would be no representation of the LGBTQ community on The Vampire Diaries, so we had to ask!
Plec gave us the answer we were hoping for, stating “I’ll put it this way: He and his twin have a pretty good story line that we’ve got cooked up for them. We talk everyday about how to create some sort of long term place for him in the show – a relationship, something like that – we still haven’t cracked it that it would demand the story that deserves to be told. But we don’t have any plans to get rid of him anytime soon.”

What about Bonnie and Damon?!

When asked if we’ll see the place Damon and Bonnie are in, Plec gave us a definitive yes. Admittedly we knew this already, but she added onto that by saying “Where [Damon] is, why is he there, where is it, and how do they get out are the big questions that give us the first run of episodes this season. We’ve developed quite an interesting world and context for them, and the two of them together is going to be a lot of fun.”

Season 6, episode 1

When asked about what Elena’s mental state is going to be next season, Nina Dobrev had to be particularly vague. She explains, saying her vagueness “is because the first episode is all about that – her mentality – and it’s very confusing actually. I don’t think everyone deals with death in this manner, but she does some pretty strange things because you wonder if she’s actually sane – she’s going crazy, but it doesn’t seem that way to the naked eye at first. It’s odd but it makes for a great story.”

What if Damon came back as a human?

We know that Ian Somerhalder will be back as Damon Salvatore in Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries, but we’re not sure what that return will look like. Grams claimed that she had made some sort of deal so that Bonnie would not lose her life in the collapse of the Other Side, and we think Damon piggybacked on that loophole, but what does that even mean? Is there a chance Damon could come back as a human and, if so, what would that look like? We speculate below.
It was considered before. Did you know that, at one point, the TVD Powers That Be planned to have Damon be the one who took the vampirism cure? They changed their mind midway through the season, in part because many fans predicted that it would be Damon, the character who seems to enjoy being a vampire the most, who would revert to his humanity. We think this plot twist still has power, and we’re more inclined to believe it’s possible given that the TVD crew has considered it before.
Season 6 is an “organic reset.” Much of the terminology being used by the TVD writers about the sixth season is of the rebirth. Julie Plec told The Hollywood Reporter "The way we look at it, Season 6 is a beautiful and organic reset. The theme of the season is everybody gets to start over. That's what we're going to do.” Now, we may be reading too much into this, but it doesn’t take a lot of mental energy to jump from “organic reset” to Damon returning as a human. That is literally an organic reset.
It would be a new and interesting path for his character. It’s no secret that we had some qualms with the inconsistent direction of Damon’s character in Season 5. It felt a bit like TVD didn’t know what to do with him, so they recycled an earlier storyline (in this case, Damon’s serial killing) for dramatic value. Unfortunately, it didn’t really fit into Damon’s arc as a character — at least in our opinions. Watching Damon struggle (or not) to accept his newfound humanity would be super interesting. Heck, it made Katherine’s character the most consistently relatable she had ever been. Damon’s character could use some of that relatability given some of his choices in the last season.
It would complicate his relationship with Elena. A human Damon would also give the Delena relationship a compelling dilemma with which to deal. The show struggled with this in the last season, as well. Understandably eager to throw some drama into the Delena relationship before fans got bored, TVD made Damon a serial killer again, had Katherine steal Elena’s body and seduce Stefan, and had them hash out the old “I’m not good for you, Elena” argument from seasons past. It would be refreshing to see these two grappling with a more complex, nuanced issue, such as Damon’s humanity and what it might mean for their future together.
